Happy Halloween! Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend. Remember that at 2AM tomorrow (late tonight), Sunday, November 1st we roll our clocks back one hour to observe daylight saving time, so back one hour to 1AM. A good way to remember the time change is in spring, you spring forward one hour, in the fall, you fall back one hour.
The good news is we will gain an extra hour of sleep overnight. Also, the sunrise and sunset will happen one hour earlier, bringing darker evenings and brighter mornings. While your smartphones and computers will automatically adjust, do not forget to change your appliance clocks, vehicles, and wall clocks.
Fun fact: Hawaii, most of Arizona (except the Navajo Nation), and U.S. territories do not observe daylight saving time. Also, daylight saving time is regulated federally by the U.S. Department of Transportation under the Energy Policy Act of 2005. As of 2026, 19 states have passed legislation or resolutions to support permanent DST, though they cannot take effect until federal law changes.
For now, enjoy the extra added hour to your Halloween weekend.
