Water Safety Day 2026

120 Third Graders from Huron City Schools, St Peter’s Catholic School and Firelands Montessori Academy learned about all things water safety.

In addition to the Fire Department station on assisting victims in the water, the Huron Police taught how to utilize throw ropes, USGS showed off their lab equipment used for studying local water wildlife, and ODNR talked boating safety and life jackets.

We would like to thank our sponsors, without whom this program would not be possible:
Huron Eagles
RestorePro
Valley Ford of Huron
Buckeye Sports Center - PFDs
Lucky Stone Uniforms & Promotions - Event Shirts

And thanks to Huron Boat Basin & Amphitheater for the use of the space.

Thank you Valley Ford of Huron for being one of our Water Safety Day sponsors!

In resounding fashion, Huron-area voters supported a new-money fire levy, which provides the local department with enough funds to adequately protect community members.

“This ensures we can continue to provide the high-quality service residents have come to expect."

Election Day is Tuesday, May 5th. Here are the facts, one more time, about the levy.

During the past two weekends, many community members attended Huron fire-sponsored open houses occurring at the department's two stations: one in Huron and the other in Huron Township.

This represented "a great opportunity for the community to come visit the Huron Fire Department and see the stations, meet the people that respond and the equipment they use." https://tinyurl.com/mrywrkbc
