We were dispatched to a house fire located in the city of Hurdland and would like to thank Baring Volunteer Fire. Edina Fire, and the Knox county ambulance district, for responding to help us battle this blaze in these cold temps. The house was fully engulfed when we arrived with in minutes of the alarm. Thankfully no one was injured and the occupants were able to make it out safely. Again thanks to all who helped this family.

Tonight the fire department responded to a structure fire that was preventable. We would like to remind everyone that the City of Hurdland has a burn ordinance and requires a permit when burning within the city limits. With fall here and many burning yard waste and debris it’s important to never leave a fire unattended especially at night. If there a violation of the ordinance and the Department responds the person violating the ordinance will receive a bill per the ordinance. There is no fee for the permit so no sense in not getting one.

It’s a beautiful night at the Firefighters Memorial where they are honoring our friend and brother Kris McCarty tonight as part of the Annual vigil and memorial service.
