APRIL STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Josiah Jefferson is our April Student of the Month! Josiah is an 11-year-old 7th grade homeschooler who has been taking violin and piano lessons for 3 years. He has been studying violin at Hawthorne Conservatory for the past year with Renee Dover. Josiah participates annually in the HYO Tennessee Valley Music Camp and enjoys orchestral and ensemble playing. His favorite school subject is social studies and he enjoys the sciences as well. His extracurricular hobby is Taekwondo which he has been studying for 3 years.

Ms. Dover says “Josiah possesses the rare gift of perfect pitch. It is marvelous to observe this unusual gift in action as he applies it to his violin playing. Josiah’s pitch recognition and intonation skill along with his cooperative and teachable attitude make him a delight to teach.”

Student of the Month

Our January Student of the Month is Cate Trotter! Cate is the daughter of Melissa Trotter. She has been a student of Linda Soule, our Lead Ballet Teacher, for the past 13 years! Cate is a senior at Contemporary Education Academy and is looking forward to graduating this spring.

Linda says that “Cate is a joy to teach. She has made amazing progress with her ballet training. Her classmates are blessed to see how hard she works.” We look forward to seeing the great things she will do in the future.

Noah Mackey is the son of Jeanine Mackey. Noah is a 5th grader at AAA, Academy for Academics and Arts. He has been a student at Hawthorne Conservatory for 7 years with 5 of those years as a piano student of Sara McFaddin. His favorite song learned with Ms. Sara is Pagoda by Lynn Olson and his favorite composer is Jay Vincent.

Sara says “Noah is a very talented and diligent student. He is enthusiastic to take on new challenges and has a great sense of humor.”

STUDENT OF THE MONTH goes to Dylan Westenhofer!

Dylan Westenhofer is the son of Christy and Craig Westenhofer. Dylan is a Huntsville High School Senior. He has been a guitar student of Gabe Larose for four years. Gabe says “Dylan is very diligent in learning techniques and songs presented to him for guitar. He has grasped styles such as fingerstyle, strumming, fast lead-guitar, slide and some alternate tunings. His improvising is really developing, using pentatonic scales, blues scales, and modes.” We wish him well as he graduates in 2023!
