North Alabama NSBE Professionals presents its 33rd Scholarship Banquet, "Advancing S.T.E.M." on Thursday, April 9, 2026, 6:00pm at the Holiday Inn Research Park at MidCity.
This year's Banquet will recognize 24 area students in grades 5-12 with scholarships to support their pursuit of STEM education. These include scholarships for Space Camp, Briggs Leadership for High School Seniors, Pope Perseverance, Creative Minds Poster Contest and High School Essay Contest. Also, introducing two new scholarships, the Joshuah Gregory Athletic STEM Scholarship and Johnnie Clark F.O.C.U.S Scholarship in memory of our dedicated and charter member, Johnnie Clark.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Ruth Jones. Dr. Jones is the second African American woman in Alabama to earn a Ph. D. in Physics and the first woman to receive a BS in Physics from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She has 30 years of experience with NASA . Dr. Ruth is lauded as one of NASA’s Modern Figures.
The Scholarship Banquet will also feature Saxophonist, John Lennard and speaker/poet/author, Marc Lacy will serve as our emcee.
