Together, we're training for a safer community. We welcomed firefighters from across the country to Huntsville for our Structural Collapse training.

Crews were able to practice real-life rescue and extrication techniques to better protect the public during emergencies of all scale.

We're strengthening our ability to keep Huntsville, and every community these firefighters serve, safe when it matters most.

HFR personnel recently welcomed Huntsville Parks and Recreation's Male Mentorship Experience to Station 1! We toured the station, got a hands-on look at the trucks and gear and talked with firefighters about teamwork, services and what it takes to keep our community safe.

We appreciate their enthusiasm, questions and the positive impact this program has on future leaders in Huntsville. Thanks for spending the day with us!

HFR personnel recently held the first Fire Ops 101 class for City of Huntsville employees. Participants from HR, Legal and Communication had the chance to get hands-on experience from understanding our department's structure to training drills in forcible entry, victim search and handling a car fire.

We appreciate everyone who attended and jumped into this day head first. Stay tuned to see who joins Fire Ops next!

The Alabama Forestry Commission has issued a Statewide Fire Alert due to worsening drought conditions and low relative humidity. In the last 30 days, 387 wildfires have burned approximately 15,850 acres of forestland across the state.

This Fire Alert will continue through the weekend until at least Monday, April 20. Conditions will be reevaluated at that time. Permits for outdoor burning will be restricted only to Certified Prescribed Burn Managers.

To report a wildfire, call (800) 392-5679, and in the event of an emergency, call 911.

Stay alert and stay safe, Huntsville.
