JOB POSTING ANNOUNCEMENT-PURCHASING AGENT – WALKER COUNTY, TEXAS

Walker County is accepting applications for the position of Purchasing Agent. This position is responsible for administering county purchasing functions in accordance with Texas Local Government Code and county purchasing policies.
Responsibilities include:• Managing procurement and purchasing activities• Preparing and supervising bids, proposals, and contracts• Maintaining inventory and county asset records• Ensuring compliance with state and county purchasing regulations• Coordinating with county departments, vendors, and officials
Preferred qualifications may include:
•Experience in governmental purchasing or procurement• Knowledge of Texas purchasing laws and competitive bidding procedures• Strong organizational, communication, and contract management skills• Relevant procurement certifications such as CTCM, CTCD, CPPB, or CPPO preferred

Representatives from GrantWorks will be in the Moffett Springs Road area conducting a community survey in partnership with Walker County. This survey helps determine eligibility for future state and federal grant funding that could support important infrastructure and community improvement projects.

Surveyors may be going door-to-door to gather information from residents. Participation is voluntary, but community involvement is extremely important to help ensure accurate data collection for potential funding opportunities. All information collected will be kept confidential.

The Walker County Commissioners Court recognized May 2026 as Older Americans Month through a proclamation honoring senior residents and emphasizing healthy aging, community involvement, wellness initiatives, all while recognizing the contributions, experience, and continued impact of senior citizens throughout Walker County.The national 2026 Older Americans Month theme is , “Champion Your Health,” which encourages older adults to focus on wellness, preventive care, and maintaining active, engaged lifestyles.
Communities across the country are using the month to highlight programs and services that support healthy aging and independence. County officials acknowledged the important role older Americans play in strengthening families, neighborhoods, churches, businesses, and civic organizations throughout Walker County. The proclamation also serves as a reminder of the need for continued community support, resources, and opportunities that allow seniors to remain active and connected
