The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the donation of surplus body cameras from the Fentress County Sheriff's Office. When outreach was made to Sheriff Keeton to see if we would like to accept the donation, he gladly accepted the opportunity. Once the donation was approved by the Fentress County counsel, we were honored and proud to officially receive the donation.

This generous contribution takes us one step closer to having body cameras on our road deputies. We believe body cameras are an important tool for transparency, accountability, and the safety of both deputies and the public we serve.

Currently, the necessary steps required to properly use, maintain, and manage the body camera system are being put into place. Once those steps are complete, we will be implementing mandatory body camera usage within the Sheriff’s Office.

Additionally, at the beginning of the year, we submitted an application for a body camera grant. We are hopeful to be selected as a recipient of those funds, which would allow us to purchase additional body cameras and continue expanding this important program.

Sheriff Keeton would also like to extend a special thank you to Sheriff Fowler and Kris Lewallen for reaching out and helping bring this opportunity to Scott County. We appreciate the partnership and support from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office and remain committed to moving Scott County law enforcement forward.

A huge thank you to our dispatchers and officers who held down the chaos during an eventful Memorial Day weekend. With multiple accidents and calls seeming to come in all at once, your professionalism, teamwork, and dedication never faltered.

While many were spending time with family and friends, you were out serving and protecting our community under pressure. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for each and every one of you.

As a reminder, the administrative department at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. We honor and thank all of those who served and sacrificed for our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day. 🇺🇸

We are proud to partner with Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Oneida/Huntsville to bring a new Auto Mechanic Program in an addition to our Welding Program. This program gives inmates the opportunity to learn valuable job skills that can help them find employment after release and reduce recidivism.

We are thankful for TCAT Huntsville and their partnership as we continue working to create positive change and better outcomes for those reentering society. Programs like this are helping build brighter futures and stronger communities.

We proudly recognize Correction Officer Appreciation Week.

Our correction officers serve with professionalism, integrity, and dedication every single day. Their work often goes unseen, but it is essential to maintaining safety, order, and accountability within our facility and throughout our community.

I want to personally thank each of our correction officers for their commitment, resilience, and the respect they show to those in their care and to one another. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and our office is stronger because of you.

Please join me in showing appreciation for these men and women who serve behind the walls with honor.

Today was an incredible day for our community as we hosted a powerful baptism service filled with faith, hope, and renewal.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who came out in support, especially the families of those in our jail system. Your presence is a reminder that no one walks this journey alone.

We firmly believe that being in jail does not mean a person’s story is over. Change is always possible, and everyone deserves the chance to grow, rebuild, and find purpose.

Today was about more than baptism, it was about new beginnings, second chances, and lives being changed for the better.

Together, we move forward with hope

The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the community that our inmate baptism will be held on May 2 at 11:00 AM at the jail.

We encourage family members, friends, and the public to come out and show their support for those who are currently incarcerated. Events like this offer an opportunity for reflection, growth, and positive change, and your support can make a meaningful difference.

We look forward to seeing you there as we come together as a community.

Program of the Week: Jailhouse Ministries

This week, we are proud to highlight our Jailhouse Ministries program and the positive impact it is making in our community.

Our Jailhouse Ministries program is about more than service, it’s about transformation. By partnering with local churches, we’re giving inmates the opportunity to step outside the walls and give back to the very community they will one day return to. Whether it’s building ramps, repairing porches, or helping elderly neighbors in need, these acts of service create real impact.

This program allows participants to see the value of hard work, compassion, and accountability. It helps them reconnect with their sense of purpose while restoring trust between the community and those working to make a better path forward.

We’ve seen firsthand how giving back can change lives not just for those receiving help, but for the individuals providing it. This is what rehabilitation looks like: learning responsibility, building character, and creating positive connections that last beyond incarceration.

We are proud of the partnerships that make this possible and grateful for a community willing to support second chances

Graduation is not the end of their journey it’s the beginning of a new path. We commend each participant for their perseverance and thank the program leaders, volunteers, and staff who make opportunities like this possible.

Third MEN of Valor Graduation

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the third graduation of our MEN of Valor program here at the jail.

This upcoming graduation will recognize 33 inmates who have successfully completed the program. MEN of Valor continues to be a positive and impactful opportunity not only for TDOC inmates, but also for inmates from surrounding counties housed at our facility. The program focuses on accountability, growth, and building a better future.

The MEN of Valor program is a three-part class, and several individuals in this graduating group have successfully completed the first and second phases and are now finishing the third and final part of the program.

Graduation will be held on April 18th at 12:00 PM.
We invite all family and friends to come out and support these individuals as they celebrate this important accomplishment.

The ceremony will take place outside of the jail in the bullpen area.

Sheriff’s Keeton Stated:
