Walker County Soil & Water Conservation District #453

Walker County Soil & Water Conservation District #453 Assisting the local community in conserving land, water, forest, wildlife and related natural resources.

Soil and Water Conservation Districts were established in 1937 following the ecological disaster known as the Dust Bowl. Every state in the union passed legislation allowing local landowners to form soil conservation districts. All share the same mission - to coordinate assistance from all available sources - public and private, local, state and federal - in an effort to develop locally-driven solutions to natural resource concerns.
