TDCJ - W.J. Estelle Unit The W. J. Estelle Unit opened in 1984 in Huntsville, Texas and operates under Region I of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The Estelle Unit houses 3,460 incarcerated individuals and around 1,000 of the finest State of Texas employees.
