It's always such a honor to get to spend time with our funded partners and to see them in action. Especially when they reach new milestones!

📣 September brings our 2 year anniversary serving Lincoln County and surrounding areas. We served our most families in a single month in August 2026 with 43 families coming to visit us.

43 children with clean, dry diapers
43 children with a healthy, safe start in life
43 families with less stress about buying diapers
43 families that we met and prayed for

The honor was all ours! United Way staff was able to help serve the Gallipolis community during Court Street Ministries’ monthly pantry day.

Court Street Ministries is one of our funded partners and received $20,000 this year to provide hot meals and boxed food to approximately 3,000 people annually.

When you support United Way, you are directly supporting Court Street Ministries and organizations like it throughout the Tri-State!

Registration is open for our United We Prepare Emergency Preparedness Workshop 6:00–7:30 p.m., October 6 and the Woody Williams Center for Advanced Learning and Careers.

Learn how to prepare before disaster strikes, build an emergency kit, protect your finances and know what steps to take afterward.

The workshop is FREE, and attendees will receive a disaster bag, enjoy light snacks and raffle prizes, plus have a chance to WIN a solar-powered generator!

United, we prepare!

During the course of a year, we visit all our funded partners to see how they are doing and how they are using our grant funding. This year, the Cabell County Family Resource Network and FaithHealth Appalachia applied for and received a $5,000 Safety Net grant to place Care Trees throughout Cabell County.

We helped build one of those trees, which is housed in the Treister Family Room in the Hoops Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital. The trees house personal hygiene products, cleaning products, toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, laundry detergent and more.

On Friday, United Way of the River Cities hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Wayne Middle School to commemorate the installation of new free-vend pad dispensers in all girls bathrooms throughout Wayne County Schools' 6 middle schools!

The goal of this project was to simply provide free, easily accessible products in school restrooms to ensure students do not have to choose between managing their periods with dignity and participating fully in their education.

In addition to the 23 dispensers throughout the district, each school received 2,000 menstrual pads to stock the dispensers.

This pilot project was made possible through a grant from the Pallottine Foundation of Huntington WV and with the support of the Wayne County Schools administration and staff, especially Terri Lynn Queen, Director of Attendance and Student Services, who helped coordinate everything along the way!

United Way of the River Cities is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our board members, Jerry Briggs. We would like to thank Jerry for his service to United Way as a board member, as well as in his role as vice president of advertising at the Herald Dispatch.

We extended our heartfelt gratitude, love and support to his family during this difficult time.
