Please remember you must live in the Town of Huntington and be in grades 8th-12th. Today the kids solved the Youth Court murder mystery of the ultimate video game party🎮🧠🧐

Yesterday, Huntington Youth Court had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County in Glen Cove🧠🏛️

The students learned that spreading hate stops with them by choosing their words and actions wisely.☮️

We would like to thank the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center and their amazing tour guide Linda for being so insightful and informative!!
The museum has emphasized to our youth participants how one of the most tragic actions in history began with hate and how we as a community can rise above it!🫂🤍✨

Huntington Youth Court needs you!!! We are excited to announce we are accepting registrations for Youth volunteers for our upcoming Spring Training starting in early March. In order to participate you must live in the Township of Huntington and be a High School student. In Youth Court you will learn the areas and roles of a courtroom such as the Judge, Jury, Bailiff , and lawyers. As well as and more importantly, the concept of restorative justice. All students that pass the Spring training become members of Huntington Youth Court and hold real trials for youthful offenders within their community. All youth volunteers receive community service hours for their participation. If interested, please register through the QR code. And if you have any question please do not hesitate to contact us. Please note that the flyers are in English and Spanish with a separate Spanish Speaking training sessions held on Mondays for the Spring. La Corte Juvenil de Huntington te necesita!!! Estamos feliz de anunciar que estamos buscando voluntarios juveniles para participar en el entrenamiento del Corte Juvenil en el mes de Marzo para la primavera. Para participar en el programa se requiere vivir en el Pueblo de Huntington y estar en la escuela secundaria. En el Corte Juvenil aprenderán las áreas del corte como el Juez, Jurado, Alguacil, y Abogado. Y aún más importante aprenderán del concepto de la justicia restaurativa. Tendrán y oirán casos verdadores de jóvenes que han cometido delitos menores en la comunidad. Todo joven que participa como voluntario recibe horas comunitarias por sus servíos. Para registrarse escanea el código en el flyer escrito en Español. Por favor nota que el día y fechas del entrenamiento en español son diferentes del inglés y esas clases serán completamente en español. Si tienen alguna pregunta por favor llamen.

We are so proud of all our new inductees! We look forward to working with all of you. Our volunteers are such an important part of what allows Youth Court to make such a lasting impact on our community.

Thank you to the Town of Huntington, Town of Huntington Supervisor Ed Smyth and members of the Huntington Town Council for the amazing support!

Supervisor Ed Smyth and the Town Board extend their congratulations to the Huntington Youth Court's newest inductees. The Huntington Youth Court is a a community-based prevention and intervention program that has been in operation for over a decade that provides an alternative to the regular juvenile justice system for first-time, juvenile misdemeanor offenders.

Prior to being sworn in, youth volunteers attended a ten week, two-hour per week training course. Volunteers learn how to prosecute and defend, the proper way to address the judge in the courtroom and how to make opening and closing statements. After completing training, volunteers must pass a “bar exam” and complete practicing “mock” trials. Training is done in partnership with local attorneys who donate their time to the Youth Court.
