Today was one of those very challenging first day of the week and last day of the month kind of days. I was feeling a little overwhelmed, but then a very nice couple arrived at the office with the most wonderful surprise! Our friends at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church not only collected fresh fruit for our Care Receivers in August, but also tissues, activity books, cards, and stamps! A donation from the church was also included that will greatly help support the work of our organization. It just really lifted my spirits and brought me so much joy to know that people in our community really do care. The support of churches, civic organizations, schools, and individuals helps us provide services to the elderly and chronically disabled members of our community. This beautiful summer weather has been perfect for visiting beautiful people on both sides of the river! Happy Monday! This very warm summer day began with sounds of The Marching Thunder tuning up on Marshall's campus just across Third Avenue from our office. I love hearing them! Jennifer Farrar delivered FABulous fresh fruit bags from our wonderful friends at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. THANK YOU! Our faithful Volunteers have been super busy delivering these special treats to our very appreciative Care Receivers. Here is an update from Kristy! While this is bittersweet, we are excited for Kristy’s new opportunity.

🏔️ Welcome to the Team, Dr. Kristy Bay! 🏔️

We're thrilled to announce that Rev. Dr. Kristy Bay is joining Together for Hope as our new Director of Programs and Partnerships for Appalachia, starting July 1, 2026!

Dr. Bay brings deep roots in the Appalachian region and extensive experience in higher education, nonprofit work, and community development. A former TFH Appalachia coalition member herself, she's passionate about asset-based community development and has co-directed an Appalachian Immersion Program designed to dismantle stereotypes about the region.

"The mountains are in my blood!" says Dr. Bay. "I'm thrilled to walk alongside the fabulous folks doing the hard work of combating poverty, breaking cycles and stigmas, and transforming communities."

Rev. Dr. Jason Coker adds: "Kristy's rootedness in the area perfectly accompanies her extensive education in a way that will exponentially strengthen TFH's transformative impact in Appalachia. She's ready to go on day one!"
