Celebrating 250 years of America 🇺🇸

This is an effort that occurs every 50 years to recognize the history of this country. It is an opportunity to appreciate where we have been, where we stand today, and the possibilities of the next half century within each of our communities here in Cabell County! Our intention is to uplift our residents by providing them with a spark of pride in the lives they lead and where they live.

We are so excited about the events taking place this summer & can't wait to see everyone out supporting the community!

Bridging the 100th anniversary of Black History founded by Dr. Carter G. Woodson with the 250th celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, there will be a multimedia art show that will feature artists from throughout the community and university. This art show will display traditional quilting and its evolution. Folk art has a rich history of symbolic language which reflects our history as well as the arts of our state and region. These works honor the labor of women, men and all the people whose hands built our communities that define this corner of West Virginia!

Head on out to the Marshall University School of Art & Design to kick off "Legend Has It" ❤️
