HADCO | Huntington Area Development Council

The mission of the Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) is to attract new employers to Cabell and Wayne Counties, West Virginia, to retain existing employers, and to help all employers expand their businesses. The accomplishment of this mission will enhance the area business climate, facilitate continued area growth, diversify the local economy, expand the tax base, and enhance the employment opportunities for residents, thereby improving the overall standard of living for all citizens.

We're investing in our local talent pipeline by giving students firsthand experience in the economic development world by learning about the strategic initiatives, collaboration and planning that shape our community.

We're proud to welcome Anna Holstein as our inaugural Fellow! As an Advertising/Public Relations major in the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications, Anna will be leveraging her storytelling skills to help us share the incredible momentum happening right here in the Huntington region. The Business Retention and Expansion Manager works under the direction of the HADCO President & CEO and the Executive Director. The BR&E Manager will manage, coordinate and implement programs and projects that support the retention and expansion of businesses in Cabell and Wayne Counties. This role will also assist with economic development projects as it pertains to business retention and expansion, including supporting the growth of targeted industries in the HADCO service area.

Powerful connections were made today at the Tri-State Metal Tech Supply Chain Expo in Huntington! ⚙️ Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) was thrilled to stand alongside regional metalworkers, fabricators, and suppliers at the Marshall Rec Center - all working together to drive growth and local collaboration!

HADCO was on hand for a powerhouse session at Marshall University for the WV Business Roundtable’s Spring Meeting this week. The energy in the room was a testament to the forward-thinking leadership driving our region's growth! It was excellent to hear from leaders at Alcon, Nucor and Marshall as they shared expert insights on growth in aviation, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.

Special thanks to Mayor Patrick Farrell for his energetic welcome and Toney Stroud for his continued leadership. Our region is well-positioned for the high-tech demands of the future.

We want to give a big shout out 📢to Michaela Jo Williamson for her one year of service as the Business Retention and Expansion Program Manager here at Huntington Area Development Council. Michaela started her job on January 13th, 2025 and the office has never been more vibrant. With her help we had an extraordinary year at HADCO, surpassing many of our established project and meeting goals, and creating many unique partnerships with area businesses along the way. Teamwork is vital for success and Michaela helps to round out the HADCO team beautifully.
