Today, the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center paused to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the many Veterans, families, and first responders whose service continues to shape our nation. We held a brief ceremony on our campus to reflect on the day’s significance and reaffirm our commitment to those we serve.

Our Director, Brian Nimmo, also spoke at Marshall University’s 9/11 remembrance event, joining community partners in recognizing the strength and resilience shown in the years since. We are grateful to everyone who took part in these moments of reflection.

We will never forget.

Veterans in the Pikeville area are welcome at the Stand Down today at Cornerstone Christian Church. Our team is here until 2 p.m. to help with resources, support, and connections to VA care. Parking at the medical center can be busy, and we want your visit to be as smooth as possible. If you need to park farther from the main building, our shuttle service can bring you right to the front entrance. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Veterans can call 304-690-3952 for assistance.
You can also pull up to the main entrance and use our valet service. It is a simple way to make your appointment easier and reduce the stress of finding a parking spot.

The Hershel “Woody” Williams VAMC Fisher House, the first in West Virginia, gives families a comfortable place to stay while their loved ones receive care. Private suites, accessible rooms, family activities, and two full kitchens help make it feel like home.

Our Meal Train lets community members provide meals that bring comfort and support during challenging times. Every meal reminds caregivers that they are valued and not alone.

Did you know the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center offers Vocational Rehabilitation Services for all healthcare-eligible Veterans?

The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) isn’t your only option. Many Veterans are eligible for VHA Vocational Rehabilitation, even if they might not qualify for certain VBA programs.

If you’re unemployed, underemployed, or experiencing challenges with finding and keeping a job due to barriers to employment, we’re here to help! Our Vocational Services Program offers several options tailored to meet your individual needs.
