We are proud of you Lynnsey!

We are proud to announce that the winner of the inaugural Horace Mann Elementary PTO Scholarship is Lynnsey Degitz! Lynnsey plans to attend Trine University and major in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering. While she sets herself apart by her involvement in school, church, and the wider community, she also has spent many hours volunteering for Horace Mann since moving on to middle and high school. One of her answers to our application essay questions exemplifies why we are so excited to award her this scholarship:

“I am proud to be among the first graduating class to attend Horace Mann after its reopening! I was involved in many activities during my time there, and I am glad to have learned so much through those experiences. Horace Mann was a great place to be after moving to a new elementary school! This week, the Green Team has organized a service project that will allow me to give back to Horace Mann; we are planting native trees on the school grounds, which allows me to serve a community that has served me in numerous ways. The relationships I built during my time at Horace Mann will have a lasting impact on my goals and on the person I hope to become.”

We are so proud of Lynnsey and all of our Horace Mann graduates! We can’t wait to see the amazing things you all do next!

We’re proud of you Kynlee!

🥹🥳 Instead of asking for gifts for herself this year, Miss Kynlee asked her party attendees to help the animals instead.

TEN YEARS OLD… and already choosing kindness. Already understanding that love is something you give away, not just something you receive.

The world needs more kids (and parents) like this. Kids who grow up understanding that even small acts of kindness can change lives. Kids who see animals not as “just pets,” but as lives worth caring about.

So everybody help us wish the happiest of birthdays to one very special girl! 💕🎂

Kynlee: We hope your year ahead is as beautiful, generous, and bright as your heart is. The animals may never fully understand what you did for them… but we sure do. And we’ll never forget it. 🐶🐱🤍
