The first permanent settlement, Holderby's Landing, was founded in 1775 in what was then the Colony of Virginia. The City of Huntington was founded by Collis P. Emmons as the western terminus of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in 1871.

Derek and Mark were recognized with the 2026 Environmental Impact Award for their work and partnership on the ACF Industries Project, an effort that is transforming a former industrial property into a site with new opportunities for education, workforce development and economic growth in Huntington.

The award recognizes the partnership between the Huntington Municipal Development Authority and Marshall University Advanced Manufacturing Center in the redevelopment and environmental remediation of the former ACF Industries property.

🎥 A MAJOR NEW ENTERTAINMENT DESTINATION COMING TO PULLMAN SQUARE! 🍿

Today, ICON Cinemas announced plans to completely transform the cinema space at Pullman Square into a state-of-the-art entertainment destination, bringing movies, bowling, arcade games, food, drinks and more together under one roof.

Plans for the reimagined space include laser projection and immersive surround sound, electric heated reclining seats with food tables, two premium large-format movie screens, an expanded concession menu, 10 lanes of duckpin bowling, a large arcade and redemption prize room, and a b**r and w**e bar.

"ICON Cinemas' decision to invest here is another vote of confidence in Huntington and the momentum our city continues to build," Mayor Patrick Farrell said. "We are excited to welcome ICON to Pullman Square and look forward to seeing this investment add even more energy to our downtown."

ICON Cinemas will take possession of the space on Oct. 1, with renovations to follow and an anticipated opening in May 2027.

This investment marks an exciting new chapter for Pullman Square and another reason to come downtown, stay awhile and experience Huntington. 🎥🎳🕹
