The city is located in Cabell and Wayne counties at the confluence of the Guyandotte River and the Ohio River. The first permanent settlement, Holderby's Landing, was founded in 1775 in what was then the Colony of Virginia. The City of Huntington was founded by Collis P. Emmons as the western terminus of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in 1871.

*City of Huntington Amnesty Program Ends June 15*

The City of Huntington's Amnesty Program will end on June 15, 2026. Eligible property owners have the opportunity to have penalties waived on qualifying outstanding balances if program requirements are met.

To qualify:
- Outstanding balance must be less than $1,000
- No penalties may have been waived on the property within the past 10 years
- The property must be owner-occupied
- The property must not be under contract for sale

Please note: If there are liens on the property, the property owner will be required to pay the principal balance, lien interest, and court costs. Only eligible penalties will be waived through the program.

If you believe you may qualify, please contact the City of Huntington as soon as possible. With the deadline quickly approaching, now is the time to take advantage of this opportunity.
