‘It’s a game changer’: Cabell EMS utilizes new simulation lab 🔽

Exciting things are happening at Cabell County EMS!

Cabell County Emergency Medical Service has added a simulation lab to its training program that will be a one-stop shop for those training to become EMS professionals.

The simulation lab makes it possible for students to get hands-on, realistic training for situations they could encounter in the field. The lab includes a simulated home with a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It also includes an ER room where students can practice on a SimMan manikin, an advanced manikin with many features.

“It’s literally life-changing for EMS to have this kind of a facility here,” CCEMS Director Veronica Swope said.

Happy National Dog Day!

We would like to dedicate this post to the one, and only, Ginger!

Ginger is an amazing support dog for those who work in the office and in the field at CCEMS. Anyone who stops by the office always has to come visit her and give pets! Even those who are in for training or visiting love seeing her!

She truly brightens everyone's day!

Cabell County EMS is partnering with University of Pittsburgh on a project on addiction treatment.

This project is aimed at finding the best and most effective ways on encouraging individuals struggling with addiction to seek treatment.

Cabell County took a step forward Thursday, securing grant funding and partnering with the University of Pittsburgh to help more people find a path to recovery.

Thank you to WSAZ for the segment on the Salvation Army's Battle of the Bells!

In our "battle" against the Cabell County Sheriff's department, between the two agencies, we were able to raise over $2600!

Battle of the Bells Statistics:

Total: $2,625.13
Cabell County Sheriff's Department: $921.50
Cabell County EMS: $1,703.63

While we may have won the competition, the true winners are those who this donation will help.

Thank you to all the volunteers who spent several hours in the July heat ringing the bell and thank you to each person who donated!

Our CCEMS family is devastated by the sudden passing of one of our retired friends, Patrick McLain.

Patrick was an astounding paramedic and an even better supervisor.

The world was truly a better place with him in it.

We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
