Please join us in congratulating Logan Hammett on graduating from Huntington North High School! During his time in Huntington North’s Fire Program, Logan successfully earned his Fire Fighter I & II certifications, as well as his Emergency Medical Responder certification. Logan is also a member of the Huntington Township Fire Department, and we are proud of the hard work, dedication, and commitment he has already shown to the fire service at such a young age. As a token of our appreciation and congratulations, the Officers of the Department presented Logan with a leather radio strap. Congratulations, Logan — we look forward to seeing what your future holds!

The Huntington Township Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce and sincerely thank the members of American Legion Post #85, located at 1410 South Jefferson Street, for their incredibly generous donation of $10,000.

Today we paid a visit to Faith Community Church Of God for a Touch-A-Truck event! It was a wonderful time letting the kids take a look inside the trucks and getting to flow some water into the yard! All of us here at Huntington Township Fire want to thank those involved at the church for having us out and allowing us to show the kids the trucks. Also, a huge thanks to The Andrews/Dallas TWP Volunteer Fire Department for joining us today!

It was a little brisk this morning but we had a great morning of water rescue training at Lake Clare with Roanoke Fire. Want to give a big shout out to Conservation Officer Adam Bailey for helping with boat operations skills. He is a wealth of knowledge and always eager to help out.

As of now we are under a travel watch. If you don't need to leave your home, please don't. Should you find that you need to be traveling, please give yourself plenty of time and turn your headlights on! Stay safe and stay warm!

By the authority of the Huntington County Commissioners, Huntington County is now under a Travel Watch (Orange) as a proactive measure due to worsening winter weather conditions.

A Travel Watch means conditions are threatening to public safety. During a Travel Watch, only essential travel, such as travel to and from work or for emergency situations, is recommended. Businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations should review and implement their emergency action plans as appropriate.

While snowfall amounts vary across the county, road conditions are continuing to deteriorate due to snow-covered roads, drifting on county roads, and icy conditions. Conditions are expected to worsen as additional snow and drifting continue, particularly later today and into the evening hours.

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

A map of all Indiana counties currently under a Travel Advisory, Watch, or Warning can be found here:

Huntington Township Fire Department stands with the Markle Fire Department as they grieve the loss of Fire Cadet Adlee Scheerer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Adlee’s family, friends, classmates, and the entire Markle Fire family during this difficult time.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Markle Fire Cadet, Adlee Scheerer. Adlee was not only an incredible firefighter, but also a genuinely kind and uplifting person. He brought light into every room with his smile and warm presence. Adlee cared deeply for his community and his friends, always offering strength, laughter, and a listening ear. Though his life was taken far too soon, the joy he shared and the lives he touched will never be forgotten. We remember him for his courage, his heart, and that unforgettable smile. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.

I ask you keep Adlee’s family and friends in your prayers as well as the men and women of Markle Fire Department.
