Nothing like spending a rainy April Saturday with good company and a little elbow grease! 🧽🫧

In honor of National Historic Marker Weekend 2026, my dad and I braved the rain and cleaned 10 historic markers across Greenlawn and Centerport. Swipe to see the before and after of the dirtiest one… what a difference!

Historic markers preserve the stories that make our communities special, so we’re proud to do our part!

What civil rights battles were being fought on Long Island? Bring the Civil Rights Movement home with this thoroughly researched and beautifully illustrated book.

Northport Historical Society Presentation (Outstanding Triumph: The Veterans Administration Neuropsychiatric Hospital at Northport, 1925-1940) at the Harborfields Library on January 22 from 2:30-3:30 presented by Robert Browne.

When the Northport VA Hospital opened to treat World War I ‘shell-shocked’ veterans, the visiting public marveled at its beautiful 550-acre grounds, pleasing architecture and cutting-edge therapies. Lost to historical memory, the fascinating story of the years 1925-1940 confirms the New York Times’ 1928 description of the hospital as an “Outstanding Triumph.”
