Earlier today, we got a visit from the one and only- Santiago from Mono Lake Committee who came by to spread some love to CBE! 🌟

We are grateful for this donation from the Mono Lake Committee, but most importantly we are proud of our 18 years of partnership. 💚 Since 2008, CBE has been sending youth and adult community members to visit the Mono Basin to further understand the impacts of urban LA living on the Eastern Sierras and the people that live there. Throughout the years, generations of members have become water champions and defenders. Thank you MLC and Santiago for your longstanding support and for ensuring another year of partnership!

Our next group will be traveling up there in October 🥰😍 (Anyone want to share a Mono Lake Trip memory? Take us down memory lane and drop it in the comments!)

✨️Earlier today, SB 954 passed out of both houses and is headed to the Governor's desk!✨️

Legislators have made good on their promise to fix the toxic loophole created by SB 131 last year and we thank them for their leadership, especially Senator Catherine S. Blakespear

Governor Gavin Newsom, EJ communities urge you to sign SB 954 into law!

Now, it's up to the Governor to make sure that Californians are protected from bad and polluting projects in their neighborhoods.

Call Newsom to tell him to protect frontline communities by signing SB 954 into law: (916) 445-2841

We did it!!!

Thank you to Senator Blakespear for your leadership on , and to everyone who reached out to their representatives to help this important bill pass through both houses!

This bill will help the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) better protect our communities from industrial pollution by restoring some oversight and community input for advanced manufacturing.

Stay tuned for action alerts to help this bill become law!

✊🏽☀️This year, 230 members from the CEJA Action alliance traveled from all regions of the state to gather in Sacramento to learn, strategize, celebrate our wins, and bring the demands of our communities directly to the people making decisions about our future.

Over two days, we:
🌱Met with 70 legislative offices to advance statewide environmental justice priorities.
🌱Engaged with 5 regulatory agencies, bringing community knowledge and lived experience into spaces where decisions are made.
🌱Built relationships with 10 philanthropic partners to strengthen the resources behind our movement.
🌱Honored 7 community leaders and decision-makers who continue to fight alongside EJ communities across California.

Congreso reminds us that our power comes from people coming together, building relationships, and refusing to accept a future that leaves our communities behind. 🦋

On August 25th, 2026 the City of Huntington Park celebrated the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act. In honor of the ADA, Huntington Park awarded Ramona Quezada, URSELA member, for her exceptional work organizing alongside residents in Southeast LA for the last 20 years. Ramona has fought for environmental justice, affordable housing and disability rights.

Ramona and CBE look forward to working with the city in the future to ensure an inclusive, affordable, and climate resilient HP for all of its residents!

No rate hikes! No bailouts! No data centers!

Frustrations over rising utility bills boiled over at a CPUC meeting Thursday, where consumer advocates urged regulators to reject PG&E's latest spending requests. Advocates and utility customers argued that Californians are already struggling with some of the highest energy bills in the country. More here: https://abc7news.com/19674693/

Community came out strong today in San Francisco to reject PG&E’s greed, their unjust rate hikes, their polluting data centers, their contracts with Palantir, and Newsom’s back room deal to bail them out for the wildfires they’ve caused.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in taking action to stop PG&E from gouging us for the energy we need to live. Safe, clean and affordable energy is a human right!
