On June 23, 2014, the Empire State Building will celebrate the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s 75 years of volunteer service to the United States Coast Guard and the boating public. The Auxiliary colors will bathe the building with light. Admiral Robert Papp, past Commandant of the Coast Guard, praised the 31,000-member force as “…the world’s premier maritime volunteers.” The Auxiliary’s theme for the 75th anniversary is “Honoring the Past Preparing for the Future.

23 June, 2014, will mark the 75th anniversary of our Coast Guard Auxiliary. This anniversary year is symbolized by a special Auxiliary logo that can be found below.
For the last 75 years our Auxiliary shipmates were ready, willing, and able to support Coast Guard missions and share their knowledge and resources. They have rightfully earned our highest respect and are a key part of Coast Guard success.

All Coast Guard unit commanders, commanding officers, and
officers-in-charge are strongly encouraged to reach out to their local Auxiliary flotillas and divisions to recognize this historic milestone and strengthen partnerships and friendships with our "Silver" shipmates.

Coast Guard units are also encouraged to send representatives to local Auxiliary Change of Watch ceremonies and flotilla meetings where possible, and extend invitations for Auxiliarists to visit their units throughout the year.

Local Auxiliary units can be found through the CGAUX Units link on the national Auxiliary public affairs site.
The Auxiliary 75th anniversary coordinator is Woody Simpson at:

"Commercial Fishing Meeting and Training held at Sector LA/LB, 06-02 member Sandra Lindsey was in attendance. Sandy helped the head of the department Mr. Marc Nuygen with the training and meeting."
Today I was at the Coast Guard base helping Mr. Nguyen with the Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Day. He had me observe the class, take photos for their newsletter, and es**rt the Fishermen onto the base. I took the photos with the Inspections Dept. camera so I did not get those pics for myself. Here is one, I took with my camera, of the men doing damage control in the DC trailer simulator:
The sim operator turns on various leaks and the student tries to wrap or plug the leak. The other demos were: Immersion suits ( on land, getting them on and checking for any malfunctions leaks etc.) The big thing was we got to fire and ignite flares right on the Coast Guard's Small Boat Basin pier! It was my first time firing the flare gun! We also set off smoke canisters. All had a good time and improved their skills.
