Huntingdon County Arts Council

Huntingdon County Arts Council http://www.huntingdoncountyarts.com/ The mission is to provide arts and cultural opportunities in Huntingdon County. HCAC also sponsors a Camera Club.

The Huntingdon County Arts Council (HCAC) was established in 1972 to serve the residents of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, it receives support from local governments, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and its members. HCAC programming has consisted of regular gallery exhibits to engage, inspire and entertain our community though a rich diversity of local and regional talent. All gallery events are free and open to the public. We host a Holiday Shoppe in December to support local artists to sell their artwork. HCAC participates in Art Walk Huntingdon, a monthly community-targeted special activity on the third Thursday evening of every month. The Council presents two music festivals: Folk College (Memorial Day weekend) and Greenwood Furnace Folk Gathering (September). These festivals feature professional musicians, workshops, concerts (open to the public), public hymn sing, and contradance. We annually award the Pennsylvania Heritage Musician at the Greenwood Furnace festival. HCAC also presents Fiber ArtsFest (September), with classes and a vendor show. Our Arts in Education program in the past has provided grants to local schools for arts programming and we periodically supports musician performances in local schools. While the majority of HCAC programs are geared towards the enjoyment of the general public, we also serve an active artist community in and around the county. The organization is governed by a board of directors, elected annually with representatives from throughout the county and varied backgrounds. Day-to-day activities are handled by our executive director. Board meetings are held monthly, and are open to the membership. Please call (814) 643-6220 for more information or check the calendar for time and location information.
