Planning ahead is one of the most important ways we can protect ourselves and the people we love.

The Huntingdon County Elder Justice Task Force, in cooperation with the Huntingdon-Bedford-Fulton Area Agency on Aging, is offering a free community seminar on understanding Power of Attorney.

This informative session is designed for older adults, individuals considering a Power of Attorney, designated agents, and caregivers. Local attorneys and a banking professional will discuss the different types of Power of Attorney, how to choose an agent, the responsibilities involved, recordkeeping, banking considerations, and available community resources.

Admission is free and the session will include an open question-and-answer period.

The proposal could mean larger class sizes, fewer teachers and home visitors, fewer program hours, reduced health, mental health, and dental services, lower wages in key positions, weaker safety protections, and additional barriers and paperwork for families.

At the Huntingdon County Library, we want to take a moment to celebrate Dolly for her incredible dedication to fostering a lifelong love of reading across generations.

Why We're Inspired by Dolly's Legacy:

The Imagination Library: Inspired by her father, who was unable to read or write, Dolly founded the Imagination Library in 1995 to ensure children have books at home regardless of income. Today, the program has gifted over 270 million books to young readers worldwide.

Building Early Literacy: By sending free, high-quality books monthly to children from birth to age five, her initiative helps build foundational reading habits and kindergarten readiness before kids ever step foot into a classroom.

Empowering Adult & Family Literacy: Dolly’s work highlights a vital truth—literacy is a family affair. Encouraging parents and caregivers to read aloud to children builds stronger connections and helps adults grow in confidence alongside their kids.

A special opportunity for our United Way agencies and community partners!

Huntingdon County United Way encourages our partner agencies and other local organizations to participate in Hartslog Hollow during the 50th Anniversary of Hartslog Day.

This free children’s area provides a fun and meaningful way to connect directly with hundreds of local children and families. Organizations can host a simple kid-friendly craft, game, activity, or demonstration while sharing their mission and helping families learn more about the resources available throughout Huntingdon County.
