๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš” After 24 years in law enforcement, including the last 21 with the Huntersville Police Department, Officer Robert Moorer was treated to a recent retirement ceremony after announcing his departure.

Known and loved by so many as a School Resource Officer at the North Academy of World Languages, โ€œOfficer Moโ€ made a lasting impact far beyond the badge. Through mentorship, guidance and his Men of Distinction program, he helped shape countless young lives and became a trusted role model in our community. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

As he and his family begin a new chapter in Texas ๐Ÿค , we thank him for his years of Honor, Professionalism and Dedication. The positive mark he leaves on Huntersville will not be forgotten.

Congratulations and best wishes in retirement, Officer Mo! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿ’™ A happy reunion and a great reminder from our Animal Services team!

Earlier today, a concerned citizen found an unattended fawn near the entrance to the Kinnamon Park subdivision and brought it to the Huntersville Police Department. HPD Animal Services Technicians Jonathan Goble and Brittany McManus worked to pinpoint where the fawn had been found, followed the deer path back to a safe wooded area, and carefully bedded the little one down. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿพ

As you can see in these video clips, mom returned shortly after and reclaimed her baby.๐ŸฆŒ

This situation also serves as an important reminder from the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission: If you find a fawn alone, please avoid touching it to avoid masking the scent of the animal. And donโ€™t move it unless it appears injured or in immediate danger. Mother deer often leave their young hidden for 12 to 16 hours at a time to protect them from predators, and in most cases, they will return at dawn, dusk or overnight.

Great work by Technicians Goble and McManus in helping reunite two of our wildlife neighbors! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿš”๐ŸŽ“ A new chapter begins.

For the first time in Huntersville Police Department history, we are proud to launch a Basic Law Enforcement Training class created specifically for future HPD officers.

Eleven cadets are beginning their journey toward becoming sworn police officers dedicated to serving our community. Between now and their graduation day in November, weโ€™ll be following along as they are challenged, developed and shaped into public servants ready to meet the high standards and expectations of the Huntersville Police Department.

Stay tuned as we share their progress along the way! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘ Even with the rain, there were big smiles and hands-on fun at the annual Touch a Truck event at the Huntersville Farmers Market over the holiday weekend!

Our officers had a great time joining Huntersville Fire and MEDIC to meet families, answer questions and give kids an up-close look at the vehicles and equipment that help keep our community safe every day. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿš“ โ€œRolling on Patrolโ€ is back, and this episode has legitimately gone wild.

In our latest installment, Animal Services Technician Jonathan Goble gives us a behind-the-scenes look at a normal day on the job, which involves much more than dealing with run-of-the-mill dogs and cats! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿ๐Ÿข๐Ÿฆ…

From helping to relocate and rehabilitate wildlife to serving the interests of animals of all kinds, Technician Gobleโ€™s work helps keep both our community and local wildlife safe. You never know what call may come next! ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘€

On Monday, May 25 at around 5 p.m., a hit on a Flock camera alerted Huntersville Police to a stolen vehicle.

Officers observed and attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away. The driver avoided an attempted deployment of a tire deflation device (commonly known as Stop Sticks) before overcorrecting, hitting an embankment and striking another uninvolved vehicle head-on along the 6000 block of Sample Road. The driver then fled on foot but was soon apprehended by pursuing officers with the assistance of a K-9.

The suspect, a juvenile male, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing to elude, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony hit and run, felony possession of ma*****na, resist delay and obstruct, carrying a concealed gun, possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of burglary tools, possession of a counterfeit instrument, misdemeanor possession of ma*****na, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, reckless driving, and driving without an operatorโ€™s license.

Even on Memorial Day, when many were enjoying time away from work, our officers remained focused on protecting the community. Through the dedicated efforts of our officers on Watch 3, stolen property was recovered and important steps were taken to hold a responsible suspect accountable.

Waze and Google Maps might give you a heads-up when youโ€™re behind the wheel. But for all you would-be speeders out there, just remember: we know how the apps work too! ๐Ÿ˜‚โšก

If youโ€™re driving through Huntersville, do yourself, our officers, and our community a favor โ€ฆ and keep it Low and Slow ๐ŸŽถโฌ‡๏ธ.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Their courage, dedication and selfless service will never be forgotten. As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we remember those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today.

From all of us at the Huntersville Police Department, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
