This September 11 marks 25 years since the unconscionable attacks of September 11, 2001, claimed nearly 3,000 lives and irrevocably changed our world. Every year since, we have observed this somber anniversary as Patriot Day to remember those we lost and honor the courageous first responders and men and women from all walks of life who took action to protect their fellow Americans.

As we reflect on these past years, we also commemorate the service members who answered our nation’s call in the aftermath of the attacks. We will never forget their sacrifices to protect our cherished freedoms and way of life.

On this day of remembrance, let us pay tribute to the American heroes we’ve lost and recommit to the values of equality, opportunity and freedom our nation stands for.

Another great week of Huntersville 101 is in the books! A big thank you to Huntersville Police Department for hosting this week’s classes. Next week, we will be diving into the Town’s history and learning more about the Electric Department. We can’t wait to see everyone again then!

Interested in volunteering with the Town of Huntersville? The Huntersville Environmental Sustainability Committee is holding their next community cleanup project in the Huntington Green neighborhood in Huntersville.

Date: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meeting Place and sign-in: Lakehaven Community Church, Lakewood Drive, Huntersville, NC

Focus areas of Cleanup: Large Lake (35°23'15.6"N 80°52'39.6"W) across the street from the church.

Our 2026 session of Huntersville 101 kicked off yesterday, and we loved meeting this year’s attendees! This year's session is our largest session ever, and we thoroughly enjoyed week one of the program. Our kickoff session covered an introduction to local government and discussed the administrative and financial functions of local government in depth. Next week, we head to the Huntersville Police Department to check out the SWAT gear and hopefully pet some friendly K-9s!

From September 1 through September 15, the Field of Honor will be on display in the lot in front of Town Center in Downtown Huntersville as we remember and honor those we lost on September 11, 2001.
Please take a moment to visit the display, reflect, and remember the lives that were lost and the heroes who stepped forward that day.
Firefighter Bill Suthard shared a few words as we come together to honor and remember.
We invite our community to visit the Field of Honor and take a moment to remember September 11.
