OFFICERS RECIEVE LETTER OF COMMENDATION
Humboldt PD is proud to recognize the outstanding work of our D Shift officers following a life‑threatening incident on August 16, 2026. Lt. Heath Smith, Officer Jeremy Douglas, Officer Michael Cardenas, and Officer Blake Smith acted immediately to save the lives of three victims who had been shot multiple times. Officers used their personal medical kits to provide tourniquets, chest seals, and other critical care that helped stabilize all three individuals.
After EMS took over, these officers continued their work by securing the scene and contacting the Criminal Investigation Division. They assisted CID in locating the original crime scene four blocks away, helping move the investigation forward.
Their professionalism, preparedness, and dedication made a real difference. Each officer has been awarded a letter of commendation for their life‑saving actions. We are grateful for their service to our community. A job well done to the officers of D Shift.
