πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ Pool Safety Starts Before You Get in the Water

Did you know the color of a child’s swimsuit can make a big difference in how quickly they can be seen underwater?

Bright, neon, and light-colored swimsuits are often much easier to spot beneath the surface, while darker colors can blend into the water and become harder to see.

βœ… Best choices: Neon yellow, neon orange, neon pink, lime green, aqua, and bright blue.

❌ Avoid when possible: Navy, royal blue, dark teal, black, dark gray, and dark green.

Swimsuit color is not a substitute for supervision, but it can be one more layer of safety that helps adults spot a child quickly in an emergency.

As pool season heats up, take a moment to think about visibility before your next swim.

πŸš’ Stay alert.
πŸ‘€ Keep constant watch over children near water.
🏊 Choose swimwear that stands out.

Eastex Fire Department is working hard to grow our Special Operations & Rescue Division. In our professional field, that starts with Training and never ends. This is no exception to the rule. One of our best employees, Justin Silas, has been spearheading our Spec-Ops Continuing Education platform and making continual improvements within our organization. This is just one example of our efforts to maintain the great reputation we have made for ourselves as an Exemplary Emergency Services Organization!

Most pedestrian accidents don’t happen because people want to get hurt. They happen because someone assumes they have enough time.

Running across the street, crossing without making eye contact, or trying to β€œbeat” traffic can change a life in seconds.

Take the extra moment:

- Use crosswalks
- Wait for a safe gap
- Make sure drivers see you
- Drivers: slow down and stay alert near neighborhoods and intersections

Getting there a few seconds sooner isn’t worth the risk.

Everyday habits can save lives. πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸš—

Before crossing the street:
β€’ Look both ways
β€’ Make eye contact with drivers
β€’ Don’t assume they see you
β€’ And drivers, stay alert and slow down in busy areas

Most pedestrian accidents are preventable when both drivers and pedestrians are paying attention.

A few extra seconds of awareness can make all the difference.

Pool Safety 101 -- a reminder as we head into summer. 🌊

πŸ‘οΈ Watch the water -- not your phone, not the grill.
🀝 Stay within arm's reach of young kids.
πŸ”’ Lock every door, gate, and fence that leads to the pool.
Pool days should be fun. Let's keep them safe. πŸ’™

🏊 Pool Safety 101 β€” Eastex FD Style

Firefighter Captain Zack Evans may look ready for a pool party, but these tips are no joke.

βœ… Eyes on the water β€” not your phone, not the grill βœ… Stay within arm's reach of young kids βœ… Lock every door and gate that leads to the pool

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death in children β€” and most of it is preventable. A few simple habits can make all the difference this summer.

Today we got a look inside the new Eastex Fire Department training facility πŸš’

This place is built to prepare firefighters for just about anything. From rappelling towers and confined space rescue to search operations, forcible entry, and vertical ventilation, this facility brings real-world scenarios into a controlled training environment πŸ”₯

While it’s not live fire, it simulates the intensity and decision-making firefighters face on the job. What stands out most is how everything is designed with purpose. It’s efficient for instructors, hands-on for crews, and ultimately focused on one thing… serving the community better πŸ‘

Big thanks to Dave Higginbotham and the team at Fire Training Structures for helping bring this vision to life.

This is how preparation meets protection πŸ’ͺ
