There will be winter weather coming to the City of Humble Monday evening thru Thursday. Please prepare your residences and businesses for the very cold weather and snow. Protect all people, pipes, plants and pets. Do not drip your faucets and water pipes, dripping will cause damage to the City water system. Do not drive unless it is an emergency, the roadways and bridges may become covered in ice and snow. Take caution when using space heaters in your home. Keep the heaters away from any combustible materials. Monitor the local news for more information about the weather conditions and further information.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of retired Assistant Chief Mike Legoudes, a cherished member of our Humble Fire Rescue family. In the early hours of this morning, Chief Legoudes lost his courageous battle with brain cancer, ending a life defined by service, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

To all who knew him, Mike was much more than a title; he was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend. His humility, warmth, and tireless commitment to his roles—whether as a Captain at West University Place Fire Department, an Assistant Chief at Humble Fire Rescue, a board member on the Northeast Hospital Authority, or the Director at Kingwood Area Emergency Medical Services Association—he set a standard that inspired all around him. Even in retirement, his love for family and community remained at the heart of everything he did.

In his final, selfless act, Chief Legoudes chose to donate his body to medical research, exemplifying his lifelong devotion to helping others. Though we mourn his loss, we are comforted knowing he is free from pain and at peace.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Legoudes family, and we are forever grateful for the enduring legacy he leaves within our department and the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, Chief; your memory will forever live on in our hearts and our service.

Residents with tree and limb debris are encouraged to begin the process of safely cutting down fallen trees and limbs to manageable sizes and placing them along the front of their property – BEFORE the curb. Please do not pile debris into the streets or sidewalks. The City is working with its disaster debris contractors and will be coordinating efforts in the next few days to start the removal process – however, the contractors are not responsible for preparing trees and limbs or moving them to the front of the property. Please standby for further information and direction.
