We were honored to perform a tribute yesterday for Rachel, RN. Rachel was a cherished friend and former colleague to many of us. A dedicated nurse and compassionate caregiver, she graduated from the Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and began her career working on medical-surgical units. She later moved to Bryan Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma, where she served as Head Nurse. During her time there, Rachel played a pivotal role in opening a six-bed Intensive Care Unit, developing the unit's policies and procedures, and helping establish a strong foundation for patient care. Rachel eventually joined Northeast Medical Center Hospital, now Memorial Hermann Northeast, where she worked first as an ICU staff nurse and later as a dialysis nurse.
Rachel demonstrated genuine concern for the well-being of her patients and was an unwavering advocate for their needs. Having had the privilege of working alongside her at Northeast, what I remember most was her steadfast commitment to doing what was best for those in her care. She never hesitated to approach fellow nurses or physicians to ensure her patients received the attention and treatment they needed. Her courage, dedication, and compassion left a lasting impact on both her patients and colleagues. After retiring in 2012, Rachel embraced life with a spirit of adventure and devoted herself to her faith. She found great joy in serving as a Bible study group leader, sharing her God-centered passion, and touching the lives of many through her guidance, encouragement, and friendship.

Rachel's legacy of compassion, advocacy, faith, and service will be remembered by all who knew and worked with her.

We were honored to provide a tribute to Carol Sheffer, RN last Thursday evening. We even got to participate in the release of butterflies in her honor.
Carol was a friend and former colleague to many of us. She graduated from Lone Star College in 2003 as an LVN and began her nursing career at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital as a new graduate on the Medical-Surgical unit. Carol demonstrated genuine concern for her patients’ well-being, often caring for them as if they were family. Her passion for nursing inspired her to return to Lone Star College, where she earned her RN degree in 2010. Shortly afterward, she transferred to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, where she worked on the Orthopedic, Surgical, and Trauma units. In 2021, Carol moved to the Surgery Center, where she continued to be a positive influence on both her coworkers and patients.
Carol was a compassionate, dedicated, and highly skilled nurse whose attentive care and empathy made a lasting difference in the lives of countless patients. Her contributions to the nursing profession and the impact she made on those around her will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to work alongside her.
