Hull Police Department’s K9 Peddocks has received donation of body armor

Hull Police Department, MA - K9 Peddocks has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Peddocks’s vest was sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Madeline H. Hamersley”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,603 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states,made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Today I had the pleasure of visiting the 23rd ROC at the MPTC Randolph Police Academy. We enjoyed spending time with the recruits and talking about the role of Plymouth County Comfort Dogs. HUGE thank you to Senator O’Connor!

The Hull Police Department plays a vital role in protecting public safety and supporting us here on the South Shore through a wide range of emergency responses and public service efforts. K9 units are an especially valuable resource, assisting officers with search operations, investigations, and community engagement initiatives.

I have secured $25,000 for the Hull Police Department through Amendment #973 in the FY27 budget to support the department’s K9 program. This funding will help provide resources and support for the continued operation and development of the program, which plays an important role in keeping the Hull community safe.

I am grateful to the officers of the Hull Police Department, Detective Leanne Marshalsea, and their K9 unit for their continued dedication and service through this integral program.

Today I had the honor of attending Law Day, along with the retirement ceremony for First Justice Judge Bradley at Hingham District Court.

It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful event, recognizing the dedication and service that help keep our communities strong. Congratulations to Judge Bradley on a well-earned retirement, and thank you for your years of commitment to justice.
