Doing Spring Cleaning? Need items picked up?

June 1-5, 2026, the City of Hugoton will be having their City-Wide Clean Up. Any items wishing to be picked up will need to be placed in the alley behind YOUR property. Do not block the trashcans or alley so regular trash service can continue. If it is able to fit in the trash can with the lid closed, you are able to utilize the regular trash can.

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿชพ๐Ÿชต Separate out tree limbs and yard debris from other items.

๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ›‹๏ธLarge items like TVs, Appliances, Furniture, will need to be in a separate pile.

โš ๏ธโ›”๏ธ Hazardous material (batteries, paint, etc) will need to be in a separate pile.

The crews will pass through the alleys multiple times as they will pick up like items each pass.

If you have any questions, call the City Hall at 620-544-8531.

Thank you for helping to keep our city clean.

City of Hugoton Inspector Josh Grubbs

We would like to thank all of our City Employees during Public Service Recognition Week. Their daily attention to our infrastructure, beautification, and emergency response can be overlooked. We would like to let them know they are appreciated for all they do to make Hugoton a great place to live.

We also would like to recognize the Hugoton Police Department for not only keeping our City safe, but also their outreach in the community with activities such as "Coloring with Cops", working with the school district, providing "Shop With a Cop" and the many other ways they assist and respond to our town.

May our community always have the lights on, the water clean, the sewer flowing, the trash picked up, a place to play, roads to drive on, and the ability to sleep safe at night.

Did you see the additions to Raydene Park? The City employees love to see our parks being used by residents, guests, families and all. We also love to see families with four legged friends using the park as well.

In order to help keep everything in order and clean for all those that use the parks, please use the doggy bags located at both the west and east blocks to keep our parks free of surprises for all who play.

Thank you!

"Why are the trees being removed in the downtown area?"

The City is having to replace some of the trees on Main Street and 6th Street due to the size of the trees. They have grown big enough that their root system has compromised the irrigation and electrical systems installed for watering the trees and providing lights during the holidays. There are also areas where the sidewalk is starting to shift because of the tree roots.

"Is the City going to replace the trees?"

Yes, the City will be replacing the existing trees with a Little Leaf Lindens.

"Will you have to replace the trees again?"

Yes, even though the Little Leaf Linden is a smaller tree, to prevent any destruction of the sidewalks or infrastructure, the trees will need to be replaced as needed.

"Can I request a tree to be removed permanently or not to be replaced?"

You can make a request to the council. However, the council has not granted this kind of request to date.

If you have any other questions, please contact the office at 620-544-8531.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to keep our downtown area maintained.
