Hudson Volunteer Fire Department

Hudson Volunteer Fire Department "Our Family Protecting Your Family" The Hudson Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1974 by the Hudson Lions Club.

The Lions Club
purchased our first truck from the Texas Forest Service and we began operations as the Hudson Lions Club
Volunteer Fire Department. After about 3 months the Department formed it's own Charter and became
Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. The Department, located in Northwest Angelina County of East Texas, protects 76 square miles which makes
up the Hudson School District. We are

an all Volunteer Department with funding provided by donations
collected by the Hudson Water Supply and the Woodlawn Water Supply. We also receive funding from Angelina
County and the City of Hudson. We are dispatched through a 911 system by the Angelina County Sheriff's Office. After many years of hard work and fundraisers we ( the citizens of Hudson ) are the proud owners of two
Stations, eight trucks and have over 20 active Firefighters. Station 1 is located about 2 miles West of Lufkin
on State Hwy 94 which houses Ladder 1; a 77’ quint, Tanker 1; a 3000 gallon tanker, Brush 1,
Squad 1 and Utility 1. Station 2 which is located about 2 miles West of Lufkin on State Hwy 103
houses Engine 2, Tanker 2; a 2000 gallon tanker and Brush 2. Officers are elected in December and serve a one year term. We meet at Station 1 on Ted Trout Dr
on Monday evenings at 7 pm.

Welcome to Texas, where about 65% of the state is covered by volunteer fire departments. Firefighters across Texas are currently preparing for (or even dealing with) wildfires while also paying attention to hurricane season.
And even though hurricanes typically hit coastal areas, extended rains and high winds can cause severe flooding and other issues far inland. This can lead to victims being rescued, downed power lines, blocked roadways and more.

Prepare now, do not wait until the Storm is hours away before you try to get everything you need.

We would like to thank Victor Mills with Johnston Monument Company for organizing the First Responder Lunch today at the Hudson Fire Department that honored all first responders. The chicken spaghetti was yummy!

We also greatly appreciate each and every donation and sponsor that made this possible. Because of everyone’s generosity, each department in the county received numerous cases of Powerade and water. Thank you all!

TxDOT has plans to work on several Lufkin roads between June 1 – June 5.
1. Business 59/Timberland Drive:
Nighttime paving, striping, and preparation for the next phase will occur. There will be lane closures, so motorists need to slow down and proceed with caution.
2. State Highway 94/Frank Street
Repair work on requiring intermittent lane closures will take place.
3. South Loop 287
Widening on the eastbound main lanes near Scenic Acres Drive will occur. Scenic Acres Drive at Loop 287 will be closed to traffic daily and will be reopened at the end of each day’s work. Resurfacing of the roadway is expected to occur this summer.
Please drive safely and patiently. Watch for construction and road crews. Everyone needs to arrive home safety each day.

The majority of flood related deaths occur in vehicles. Do NOT drive through flooded roadways, you don’t know how deep the water is. NEVER drive around barricades, they are there for a reason. Turn around, don’t drown.
