As a reminder please read the posting if you have questions about Tornado warnings. In Lenawee County each Department is responsible for setting of the OUTDOOR WARNING SIRENS. When watches and warnings are issued the fire department monitors the weather and relies on weather reports from Local news, national weather service out of Indiana, and other fire and emergency services reports. A warning issued does not mean we will automatically blow the siren. It means we are monitoring, evaluating and making decisions based on real time events. A warning may include us even if the storm path is 30 miles east or west of us. We dont want to set it off and have people start ignoring it because it wasnt actually relevant. If we set of the sirens it means we are in the path of approaching danger. We dont want to be the boy who cried wolf to many times.
