For our (belated) Monday at the Museum post we wanted to say Happy Labor Day, and take the time to reflect on an amazing summer season.

From tours and presentations, to community events, to kids camps and our amazing end of season Summer Garden Party - we couldn't have had so much fun without our members, donors, community partners, and our visitors.

Thank you for an incredible summer and we can't wait to spend a very spooky autumn season with you!

📚 Monday at the Museum!

Today, we’re highlighting our Little Free Museum, located at the corner of Myrtle and 3rd Streets, right in front of the museum!

We’ve added some new items to the Little Free Museum, so the next time you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and take a look. 👀

And don’t forget to check out the other sections of the Little Free Museum:
History for Reading and History for Sharing.

🏛️ Did you know? Hudson is the birthplace of the Little Free Library movement! The movement was started by Hudson resident Todd Bol, and it has since grown into a worldwide movement.

Want to learn more about Hudson’s connection to the Little Free Library? Visit us at the museum during our open hours, Friday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Come discover a little history—and maybe leave a little behind! 📚✨

Thank you Black Rooster for an incredible evening! The custom cocktails stole the show—and nobody got hit with a croquet ball, so we’re calling that a magnificent success!

If you haven’t been down to Black Rooster’s speakeasy spot in downtown Hudson, there’s no better time than the present!

📸 Monday at the Museum: The Soo Line High Bridge

This week, we’re taking a look at the Soo Line High Bridge, also known as the Arcola High Bridge, through photographs from different eras.

The first two photos are undated, but we believe they were likely taken sometime in the 1960's or 70's. The third photo was taken in 2022, showing the bridge as it looks today.

The fourth photo, from the John Runk Collection, dates to 1914 and offers a fascinating glimpse into the area’s railroad history. In the photograph, you can see both the new High Bridge and the old Wisconsin Central Railroad Bridge, which was built in 1884.

The old Wisconsin Central bridge was dismantled in 1916, making this historic photograph a rare look at both bridges standing together.
