We love seeing our alumni come full circle!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming back one of our own, Landon Vrooman, a proud graduate of the WSWHE BOCES Southern Adirondack Education Centers Culinary Arts program and recent Baking & Pastry graduate of The Culinary Institute of America.

Landon returned to the kitchen to share his journey through BOCES and CIA with our current students, and to demonstrate one of the classics - Pâte à Choux and Pastry Cream.

It’s moments like these that remind us what CTE is all about; building skills, inspiring growth, and seeing our students go on to do incredible things.

We’re so proud of you, Landon, and grateful you came back to inspire the next generation of chefs! 👨‍🍳

SkillsUSA has designated 24 schools as Models of Excellence for 2025, recognizing their outstanding integration of Personal, Workplace, and Technical Skills into chapter activities. This prestigious honor acknowledges the exceptional work of SkillsUSA chapters in empowering students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. The Models of Excellence program promotes the deliberate learning of Personal, Workplace, and Technical Skills, as outlined in the SkillsUSA Framework, to benchmark student achievement and chapter programming. This hands-on approach actualizes the SkillsUSA mission, as students take the lead on all activities, practicing skills employers seek, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Under the guidance of their SkillsUSA instructors, students elevate their learning from classroom instruction to successful skill application. Chelle Travis, executive director of SkillsUSA, stated, "Our top 24 Models of Excellence schools exemplify the highest standards of chapter achievement and community involvement." These students represent America's future skilled workforce and community leaders, making this recognition a tremendous honor for these schools and a testament to their outstanding SkillsUSA programs.

🎄✨ Spreading Holiday Cheer! ✨🎄

This holiday season, we were thrilled to partner with The Glen at Hiland Meadows Senior Living Communityto prepare over 100 cookie boxes filled with 11 delicious types of cookies—a project that totaled over $2,000 worth of sweet treats! 🍪🎁

A huge thank you to The Glen for their continued support and for providing our students with the incredible opportunity to showcase their culinary skills. This experience allowed our students to shine while learning the importance of teamwork, precision, and community service during this festive time of year. 💛👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

To our amazing students, your hard work and talent made this collaboration a success. We’re so proud of your dedication to excellence! 🌟

🚨 WSWHE BOCES Culinary Programs MRE Challenge with the Army National Guard! 🍴🎖️

Today, our level 1 and level 2 Culinary Arts students took on an exciting and unique challenge with the Army National Guard! 🪖💪

Students were grouped together and tasked with transforming two MREs (Meals Ready-to-Eat) into a creative Appetizer, Entrée, Dessert, and Beverage. They had just 1 hour to plan, prep, and execute their culinary creations—and they rose to the occasion with some incredible results! 🕒👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

A huge thank you to the Army National Guard for their time, support, and inspiration. This hands-on experience not only tested our students' Framework skills but also highlighted the importance of creativity, adaptability, communication and teamwork in the kitchen. 💡🍽️👏

We’re thrilled to share our partnership with The Glen at Hiland Meadows, a collaboration that has brought real-world experience to our WSWHE BOCES Culinary Arts students at the Southern Adirondack Education Center. This Thanksgiving season, our students have been hard at work preparing over 100 pies for The Glen's residents and their families. These pies include Blueberry, Pumpkin, Apple, and Chocolate Cream—all made with the skills and dedication our students have honed in the lab.

This opportunity has not only allowed our students to experience the demands of meeting real-world deadlines, but it also supports a wonderful cause. A portion of the proceeds from this project will go toward the GAHM scholarship fund generously created by The Glen to support our graduating seniors as they pursue their dreams in the culinary and hospitality fields. 💙✨

We are so grateful for this partnership and the incredible support of The Glen’s residents and families. Thank you for investing in the future of our students!
