We want to send a huge THANK YOU to Jennifer West, who donated a ton of fruits and veggies amazingly just as our supplies were running low! As well as some puppy pads, which are always needed, and water bottle springs, which were desperately needed!

We also received more water bottle springs and paper towels in the mail today!

Oh, updating to add that we also received some really cool RC water boats by a donor a few days ago as well! It sounds silly, but they will be incredible helpful in flushing out injured waterfowl when they try to evade us by jumping into the water. We’re very excited to try them!

Thank you all for your support, we and all the animals in our care appreciate it!

Welcome to wildlife hero Tuesday for our second official week!!
This week, we would love to highlight someone- not for one particular occasion, but for for three seasons each year of protecting one of our most sweetest, loved native animal. The turtle.
Let me introduce to you, for due acknowledgement, ms. Traci Huntley. She works for a highway safety company, keeping humans safe in constuction zones. But each year, she saves turtles from danger zones on roads also!!! Traci drives alot for work so she has a lot of opportunities to save these slow moving cuties out of the road.
She safetly stops/holds traffic and gets these little guys to the "other side". She accesses them all for injuries as she's acting as their crossing guard, and brings them to us if needed. This year alone, Traci has saved/rescued for rehabilitation dozens of turtles. Last year was about the same.
A true hero for all of our little shelled friends!!! Thank you, turtle hero, for being a wonderful wildlife steward, and having a heart of gold!

It’s National Wildlife Day! We’ve treated just over 1,400 wildlife this year, with 127 patients currently in our care. Thank you to our community, our volunteers, and our donors who make it possible to care for our wildlife in need! Here are photos of a few of the patients we’ve had over the past few months. They thank you too!

Today we would like to start wildlife hero Tuesdays. We recognize and thank all of our community members who are wildlife heroes : the ones who call about, bring animals in, and our transporters who do what they can to get the animals where they need to be for the help that will get them eventually back out into the wild.
So for our first weekly HERO of the week post!!!

This wonderful man right here witnessed a Pekin duck that had been hit by a car and was bleeding in towne point, jacksonville. Once he called, he was asked if he could keep eyes on the duck while transporters could get there. He readily agreed. And not only did he stay with the injured duck, he came up with a wonderful plan to get the duck out of the pond, which indeed worked, and he also helped capture her once she was on solid ground.
His selfless giving of his time, and ingenuity helped secure this little duck a chance to be fixed up like brand new. In a world where everyone seems to be in too much of a hurry, he gave all of his valuable time to help a little soul get help.

If any of our woodworking savvy donors or volunteers is interested, we could really use some new hide boxes for our squirrels and possums! Many of ours are deteriorating from years of use and we’re running low.

Dimensions are 10”x8.5”x6.5” using untreated 1/4” plywood.

If you find a orphaned wild animal please don’t feed it! Sometimes good intentions can cause harm in the forms of aspiration, gut upset, dehydration, and malnutrition from improper formula. The best thing you can do for them is keep them in a safe, warm spot like a box on a heating pad until you can get them to a wildlife facility to help them. We’ve received many babies in the last couple weeks that have been attempted to be raised by non trained people and have accidentally caused more harm than the good they thought they were doing.
