GO NAVY!

One of our very own recently represented Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Camp Lejeune as part of the All Navy Volleyball team. LT Zachary Eschenberg currently serves within our Dental Clinics competed at the USA Volleyball Championships in Orlando the end of May. The team went on to place 5th out of 49 teams in their division! Opportunities like this give Navy personnel the chance not only to take part in a morale and welfare event but it also affords personnel the time to engage with the civilian community and share their Navy stories. Congrats, LT Eschenberg! 🏐 ⚓️

On this day in history, Lieutenant Junior Grade Weedon E. Osborne gave his life to protect wounded servicemembers during the World War I at the Battle of Belleau Wood, France. Osborne is one of only three military dentists to receive the Medal of Honor for extraordinary heroism.

Today, the Weedon E. Osborne Dental Clinic provides essential dental care to thousands of Marines and Sailors stationed at Camp Lejeune, carrying on Osborne’s legacy.

The time to prepare for is now!
Take a look at this important information from Camp Lejeune.🌀

Hurricane Season begins Today 🌀
The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs annually from June 1 to November 30. While National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts below-normal hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin this year, it only takes one storm to cause significant damage to your home and property. Eastern North Carolina typically sees an increase in storms later in the summer, but now is the time to prepare. For information on how to prepare and what to pack in your emergency kit, visit the following resources:

The MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River areas will be in Topical Cyclone Condition V (TCC V) until November 30 which indicates the potential for the occurrence of destructive weather is elevated, but no specific system threatens the area.

Every step means support for our Trauma Patients! 💙🚶

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune hosted the annual Trauma Survivors Walk on May 20, 2026, in honor of the national Trauma Survivors Day. Today’s gathering, organized by Trauma Nurse Coordinator Leah Graves, gave former trauma patients an opportunity to speak about their journey following a traumatic injury.

“What happened to us may have been physically traumatic, but the real battle is mental,” said retired Senior Chief Sean Howard, a trauma survivor. “Don’t harbor those bad feelings, seek help and reach out if you need it.”

Following remarks, NMCCL staff joined the trauma survivors in a one=mile walk from the flag poles to the helipad and back. The event is part of an annual observance established n 2014 by the American Trauma Society.

“The staff at NMCCL was very accommodating when my mother was brought here after her traumatic injury,” said Michael Carafe. “That speaks volumes to the nature of what you all do here at the medical center. Thank you to everyone who works here.”

NMCCL is part of the Trauma Survivors Network, a group established by the American Trauma Society to ensure trauma survivors can connect with others with similar stories.

Retired Marine Corps Captain Andrew Hairston suffered a traumatic injury in 2021 and is now an avid paracyclist. Hairston has returned to NMCCL several times to participate in the Trauma Survivors Day walk.

“Trauma recovery is a roller coaster ride, but you get what you put out, so make the most of it,” Hairston said.

Thank you to all of those who came out today to celebrate our incredible trauma survivors!
