The Wayne High School boys track team will attempt to defend last year's state title during the OHSAA Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Ohio State University's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The Warriors will participate in 14 events (four girls, 10 boys). The boys took first place in the regional competition last week behind first-place finishes from Key'Shawn Garrett (100-meter and 200-meter dashes), and the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams (Garrett, Semarion Sroufe, Brayden Redd, Keng Martin, Derrick Stinnett, Ryder Penrod).

Garrett is the No. 1 seed in both of his races, as is the 4 x 100 relay team. The 4 x 200 relay team is seeded third. A complete list of state qualifiers from Wayne can be found at the Wayne Warriors website:

The Warriors will be seeking their fourth boys state championship, having also won in 1995, 2000, and 2025. The Wayne girls were state champs in 2024.

Teron is a Firefighter/EMS student from Wayne High School who plans to attend Sinclair Community College to earn an EMT certification, with the goal of joining the Huber Heights Fire Department.
