The Yorkville Fire Department has suffered an unimaginable loss. Nick Morosco was our Assistant Chief, mentor, teacher and friend. But he was so much more. He was our rock in times of need. He was the glue that held us together in times of distress. Sometimes he was a referee. He was always our leader. Our members would follow his commands without hesitation, because we had complete faith in his decisions and abilities. Nick was a Fire Investigator and a Fire Instructor. He had more State classes than can be listed here. But he was more than just book smart when it came to firefighting. He knew tactics, logistics, water flow, friction loss, every aspect of the fire service. And he knew it all intrinsically. The Fire service in general and Yorkville Fire in particular has lost an absolute giant in our profession. But the family has lost even more. Nick was a son, a brother and a nephew, and the loss that the Morosco family is feeling cannot be measured. Please keep the family in your prayers during these trying times. An ongoing theme in this essay is that Nick was MORE. He was. He was the best among us and his loss will be felt forever. Nick will be posthumously promoted to Chief of Department. Deservedly so. Rest easy CHIEF. Your work here is done. We will carry on and take it from here. But it won’t be easy. We love you Car 2.

💨 Wind Advisory: Issued August 9 at 1:04 PM EDT until 8:00 PM EDT by NWS Binghamton, NY.

WHAT: South winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
WHERE: Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.
WHEN: Until 8 PM EDT this evening.
IMPACTS: Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects, potentially down tree limbs, and cause a few power outages.

Use extra caution when driving, especially in high-profile vehicles. Secure any loose outdoor items.
