Good day to all of you. our motoring public. I have recently seen a Facebook conversation about Huachuca City being a Speed Trap.
I will remind everyone that Huachuca City utilizes the same speed limit signs that are posted throughout the Great State of Arizona. Your Huachuca City Police Department also utilizes Arizona Revised Statutes to enforce these laws written by our legislators. I have heard the stories of a speed trap and how the Huachuca City Police Department was one of the top ticket writers for speed in our state. This is not the case today. Your Police Department has many additional taskings that do not allow for an officer to simply sit on the highway and write speeding tickets. Our goal is to change behaviors, not issue speeding tickets to continue a false narrative.
Additionally, please note that the Posted speed limit off Huachuca Blvd (SR90) is 20 miles an hour. Huachuca City proper extends from approximately SR90 Milepost 314 to Milepost 311.8. Whetstone which is further north of Huachuca City on SR90 is 25 mph and is serviced by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
Thank you for your continued safe driving habits.
Chief

📢

On behalf of the Huachuca City Police Department, we would like share a few friendly reminders.

FIREWORK STANDS ARE COMING!

HUACHUCA CITY HAS A ZERO TOLERANCE FOR PROHIBITED FIREWORKS!

We all enjoy fireworks, but some fireworks can be dangerous and are illegal in the state of Arizona to name a few: Firecrackers, Bottle Rockets, Roman Candles, Aerials (Mortar) 🧨

Tip 1: Stay a Safe Distance away from any firework display.

Tip 2. A responsible adult should supervise all firework activities and it wouldn't hurt to have a garden hose on standby.

Tip 3. NEVER point or throw a firework at another person.

Tip 4. Light fireworks one at a time then move back quickly.

Tip 5. Observe local and state law and use common sense.

🚓

A tip from our Animal Control Officer

Tip 1. Take your dogs for a potty break before the noise begins.

Tip 2. Never use fireworks around your dog, the noise can spook them into taking off, or they can get accidentally burned.

Tip 3. If you’re leaving your dog at home, make sure your windows are secured shades drawn, and maybe turn on some music to drown out the noise from the fireworks.

Tip 4. Loud, crowded fireworks displays are no fun for dogs, and please try to resisit te urge to bring your dog with you.

Tip 5. Consider staying at home with your dog to ensure their safety, especially if they have anxiety.
