Hopefully you don't find a tick after enjoying time outside, but if you do, here's the best way to remove it and identify it!

Find an attached tick? Don’t panic!

1. Use fine-tipped tweezers.
2. Grab the tick as close to your skin as possible.
3. Slowly pull straight up with steady, even pressure.
4. Wash the bite and your hands with soap and water.

Knowing lifesaving skills is critical and last week a few of our EMS professionals were celebrated alongside bystanders that helped save a life at a Howell 5K.

Thank you to our EMS team for providing advanced care when moments matter the most. Take a minute to refresh your CPR skills this month because you never know when you might be the critical link in saving someone in need.

🎨 You know that stack of old latex paint cans that have been taking up space in your garage or basement? Now's your chance to recycle them!

Our Solid Waste is hosting a Latex Paint Recycling event this Wednesday, June 17th. Sign up for a spot at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409054AAAA92FA6FB6-63640462-june #/

For $2, you can recycle a gallon can.
For $10, recycle a 5 gallon can.
Anything under 1 gallon, we'll take for $0.50. (Please, don't mix paints!)
Oh, and cash and check are the only payments we can accept.

This year will mark the somber anniversary of 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Livingston County Veteran Services will work alongside our communities to come together in remembrance, connection, and praise as we work to feed 5,000 neighbors through synchronized community picnics hosted at American Legions, VFWs, churches, and community centers countywide. Participants will be invited to share their memories of that day and its impact on their lives.

Our main gathering will be in downtown Howell:
• Community Picnic: Howell Carnegie Library, 4:00–6:30 p.m.
• Opening Ceremony: 6:45 p.m. at the library flagpole, featuring the National Anthem, TAPS, a seven‑gun salute, and brief remarks.
• Victory Concert & Reflection Program: 7:30–9:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church (RSVP info coming soon).
• Community members are also invited to share personal 9/11 stories with WHMI News.

🇺🇸 Our nation's historic 250th birthday is going to be celebrated in Fowlerville on July 5th with a parade and fireworks. That means you've got a weekend of fun and fireworks to enjoy!

Head to Howell on July 4th for fireworks and a laser light celebration, then on July 5th for the Fowlerville Parade and Fireworks.
