Love seeing our graduates doing great things! Have a blast this summer.

Meet another one of our 2026 Minnesota Agricultural Education Interns, Holly Hughes!

Holly is a junior at South Dakota State University and will be interning at Glencoe-Silver Lake FFA this summer, where she’s excited to gain hands-on teaching experience and continue growing her knowledge in agricultural education.

Holly was inspired to pursue agricultural education through her experiences in FFA and working in her school’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) garden. She loved seeing how hands-on learning helped students build confidence, curiosity, and passion for agriculture, and she hopes to create those same experiences for future students.

Her AFNR pathway interest is Plant Systems, and she’s most excited to teach horticulture, floral design, shop classes, and exploratory ag courses.

We’re excited to follow Holly’s journey this summer and share more about her experiences in agricultural education!

Make hay while the sun shines!

Today's Work-Based Learning visit, took me to the hay field to visit Adam. This particular field he was baling today was for a client. Adam has established quite an entrepreneurship business of custom hay work and also works alongside his family's business. A number of their buyers are looking for a specific size bale and quality. They meet these demands by providing variety that a number of other custom businesses are unable to fulfill.

Last year, Adam was one of two students who rented a piece of hay ground together and developed a number of skills operating their hay business. Watch out for SD Customs in the future. (Studly&Dudly😃) They may be looking for buyers of their grass type hay this summer too.

Keep up the great work Adam and I look forward to watching you compete next year with your Forage Proficiency application.

Brooke sure didn't want me to take pictures with fear of this post on Facebook! Well, sorry Brooke, when a visit goes so very well it is time to share!

Brooke's visit took me all the way to Mound. Brooke transitioned recently to this new place of employment and boy is she enjoying it and building great relationships with customers and her employer. Her role at Sunrays is definitely one of customer service. She greets customers immediately and offers products to make their experience even better.

Aside from customer service, safety and sanitation is extremely important. Brooke needs to clean beds immediately after each customer. At the end of the night she also, cleans the enter shop. She looks forward to learning how to taking the beds apart and changing lamps. Keep up the great work Brooke!

These Work-Based Learning kids keep knocking it out of the park. Another great visit at Kwik Trip, this time in Buffalo with Hunter. Wow, the great work ethic and respect, hard work he brings each day was shared by multiple coworkers.

Hunter's supervisor mentioned he is very reliable, willing to do anything, and is trained and does very well in all 3 areas of the store. Hunter enjoys working with all the people and especially likes working in the kitchen.

Hunter will be serving in the National Guard upon graduation! Thank you for your commitment to service Hunter.
