The Landing - Houston

The Landing - Houston The Landing is a nonprofit serving survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation The Landing grew in services, partners, and impact.

The Landing started as a dream to reach survivors who were slipping through the cracks. Inspired by their faith, our founders desired to increase victim identification and connect more victims with support and services. Their hope was to create a safe space for survivors, regardless of whether they are ready to leave their situation. In January 2016, we opened our doors as the first and only drop-

in center for trafficking survivors in Houston. We were amazed by the community response, and in our first three years we served over 500 survivors! We sought new ways to reach survivors—through outreach to the Bissonnet Track, at court, in prison, and among at-risk populations throughout Houston. We also began educating the community through presentations to churches, schools, and businesses. One of the most pressing needs we saw in Houston was more support for younger victims of sex trafficking. In response, we launched our youth advocacy program in 2020 to encourage healing, empowerment, and self-sufficiency in sexually exploited children and youth. As we grow and serve more survivors, our aim ultimately is to love people the way Jesus does. We seek to meet people where they are, honor their inherent dignity and worth, and walk alongside them on their journey.

Everyone needs a place where they can feel safe, supported, and reminded that they matter. 💜

Here at The Landing, we consistently see that healing begins with being seen, heard, and treated with dignity.

For survivors of trafficking and exploitation, that can look like access to counseling, advocacy, community, practical support, and a safe place to take the next step forward.

Our goal is simple: to create an environment where hope can grow, trust can be rebuilt, and new beginnings are possible.

A common misconception about trafficking is that the issue doesn't impact men.

The reality is that men and boys also experience s*xual exploitation and trafficking... though their stories are often overlooked or underreported.

Like other forms of trafficking, the exploitation of men and boys involves coercion, manipulation, and control, not choice. Traffickers exploit vulnerabilities such as homelessness, prior abuse, substance dependence, or a need for belonging, often using the same patterns of grooming and relational control.

Stigma also plays a powerful role. Cultural expectations around masculinity can make it difficult for male survivors to identify themselves or seek help, while many systems have historically been designed without them in mind.

Awareness makes a real difference. Because every survivor deserves to be seen, believed, and cared for. 💜

Healing doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen alone.

At The Landing, we walk alongside survivors of human trafficking and commercial s*xual exploitation with compassion, patience, and faith.

For some, just stepping through our doors is an act of courage.

We’re here to meet people where they are, remind them of their worth, and support them every step of the way toward hope and healing.

Your support is making a difference in the lives of survivors every single day. 💛

It's true—Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing organized criminal activities in the United States, making almost $150 billion each year.

Behind this reality are individuals experiencing exploitation, coercion, and vulnerability... many of whom remain unseen and unsupported.

Awareness matters because trafficking exists much closer to home than people realize. In fact, it's estimated that there are 300,000 survivors of trafficking in Texas alone.

The more we understand, the better equipped we are to respond with compassion and care.

At our Drop-In Center, survivors have access to counseling and trauma-informed care in a space designed to feel safe, welcoming, and accessible.

As the needs in our community continue to grow, so does the need for expanded support services and space to serve more survivors well.

We firmly believe that survivors should be able to easily access care, without barriers.

As we look toward the future, this is a key part of our expansion plans. We are making progress on expanding the Drop-In Center in ways that allow us to increase access to mental health services, and provide more room for healing to take place.
