PSR Mission Statement
The Pantsuit Republic emerged as a Texas-specific offshoot of the secret Facebook group Pantsuit Nation in response to the 2016 presidential election. While indebted to Pantsuit Nation for harnessing narratives for purposes of community building and strengthening solidarity, our historical relationship and continuing loose affiliation through the Suit Up! As a non-partisan p
olitical organization, the Pantsuit Republic is committed to inclusivity, to increasing visibility and amplifying the diverse voices of our membership across the state, and to promoting a progressive agenda to support women’s rights and equality, social justice, political reform and access to affordable healthcare for all. The Pantsuit Republic is not explicitly pro-Clinton. We count Republicans, Independents and Democrats among our ranks. We have chosen to retain the word pantsuit in our name as a representation of our commitment to feminism and to supporting strong women. Our short-term plans include lobbying our state representatives and senators during the upcoming legislative session with strategic ally organizations and holding quarterly fundraising drives to support those partners. Long-term we will remain involved in legislative action, while supporting local and state-level runs for office by candidates who align with our platform for a more intersectional and diverse public leadership.
