⚙️ Building Fort Bend County’s workforce starts with connecting education to opportunity.

Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong and Commissioner Andy Meyers recently toured Gurecky Manufacturing Service in Rosenberg to see firsthand the advanced manufacturing taking place right here in Fort Bend County and to discuss one of the biggest challenges facing local employers: finding skilled workers.

These are important careers that require technical skills, training, and talent — and they can provide tremendous opportunities for our young people right here at home.

County Judge Wong believes Fort Bend County should work with our local schools, technical education programs, and employers to help students better understand the career opportunities available in skilled trades and advanced manufacturing.

When we connect education with the needs of local employers, we strengthen our workforce, support our businesses, and create pathways to successful careers for the next generation.

Our students should know about the opportunities waiting for them right here in Fort Bend County.

🦺 Want to do more than prepare for an emergency? Learn how to help.

During National Preparedness Month, Fort Bend County Judge Daniel Wong is encouraging residents to learn more about the County's Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT.

CERT trains volunteers with practical skills that can help their families, neighbors, and communities when disaster strikes, including disaster preparedness, basic emergency medical care, fire suppression, and light search and rescue.

Fort Bend County's CERT volunteers are another important part of building a prepared and resilient community.

This year marks the 90th Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo — nine decades of bringing our community together to celebrate agriculture, youth, education, families, and the traditions that make Fort Bend County special.

On Wednesday September 2, the Fort Bend County Veterans Service Office, partnered with Combined Arms and other Veteran Service Organizations, during their monthly Veteran outreach meeting, bringing Veterans together for meaningful conversations, fellowship, and valuable information. The session focused on helping Veterans understand the benefits they earned through their service, identify eligibility, and connect with resources available to them and their families. In addition, the Montgomery Lone Stars Chapter Quilts of Valor, Operation Salvation and Veterans Disability of America were in attendance. These monthly engagements demonstrate the VSO’s commitment to being proactive, accessible, and Veteran-focused. Through education, advocacy, and strong community partnerships, the Fort Bend County VSO continues to serve, empower, and connect Veterans to the benefits they’ve legally and factually earned.
