25 years after 9/11, our nation is still shaped by the courage and loss we experienced that fateful day. We are proud to join our community in honoring this somber milestone and in recognizing those who continue to answer the call to serve. We will never forget.

Twenty-five years ago, Americans watched in horror as the deadliest terrorist attack in our nation's history unfolded on September 11, 2001. On this Patriot Day, we remember and pay respect to the victims, the heroes, and the determination our nation demonstrated as we came together in unity. May we never forget.

UPDATE: SHARPSTOWN APARTMENTS STILL WITHOUT POWER AFTER SIX DAYS

Residents at Falls of Point West Apartments in Sharpstown have now been without electricity for six days, as Harris County officials step in to provide assistance.

Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones has deployed Precinct 4 cooling buses and a Social Work team to the apartment complex. The cooling buses will be available today until 6:30 p.m. and again Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The county’s Social Work team is also providing residents with a resource guide covering food assistance, basic-needs items and housing support.

Briones said she is “appalled” by the situation and has contacted Harris County Attorney Abbie Kamin, who has directed her office to identify available actions to assist the affected families.

Kamin is asking residents to contact her office to file a complaint or visit the County Attorney’s Stay Scam Free resources.

Residents needing assistance can also contact Harris County Precinct 4 at 832-927-4444 or email [email protected].

The American Red Cross has also been assisting residents with food, water and other supplies as the prolonged outage continues.

The latest information indicates that power has still not been restored to affected units.

HTX News will continue following the situation and will provide updates as officials announce additional assistance or power restoration.
