A message from 2026-2027 IIAH Chairman, Ryan Beavers...

"As the chairman of the board, I first wanted to say thank you to our now, past chairman, Susan Zipperer. Susan was instrumental in taking our organization to a new level. As the association chairman, we will continue to build on the momentum that our past presidents have built and keep IIAH as one of the most relevant insurance associations in the great state of Texas.

We met as a board on 8/26/2026 and we are off to the races to fulfil our mission statement of the IIAH. You will continue to see communications and details on upcoming events.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Norman E. Adams, a respected leader in the Houston insurance community and a longtime advocate for independent agents. Norman dedicated more than six decades to the insurance industry, building Adams Insurance Service into Houston's oldest independent family-owned insurance agency and leaving a lasting impact on clients, colleagues, and friends throughout our industry.

Known for his energy, leadership, and unwavering commitment to both his profession and community, Norman served as a leader within his church, supported numerous civic causes, and was deeply respected by all who knew him. His legacy of service, perseverance, and dedication will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Adams family and all those mourning this tremendous loss.

A message from IIAH President & CEO, David Wuthrich...

“Even though it is only September, it sures feels like the start of a new year! And it is for many reasons!

School is starting and with that it brings a new schedule to many of our members and their families. It is an exciting time and yes, the calendar might not say January 1, but it is a new year for our children!

September 1 also marks the beginning of the IIAH fiscal year. With that, our Board of Directors and Executive Committee change as well. First, thanks to our Board and EC member who is rolling off the board after 7 years of service, Mr. Jason Knecht. Jason, thank you for all of your time, effort and support of IIAH for the past 7 years. It is greatly appreciated! I would also like to welcome our newest Board members, Alison Garahan, Daniel Suneson, Jesse Sanchez, Matt Romano and Jason Volkert. We look forward to your new ideas as continue to strive to be the best we can be!

We have a full range of activities planned for this fall. Please find an event or two that you are interested in and attend. I promise you that you will have a wonderful time and that you will be around lots of great insurance people! As always, thanks for your continued support of IIAH. As I have said many times before and will continue say, “This is YOUR organization and Renee, Ayla, Shelby and I are here to serve you”. IIAH’s 2027 fiscal year officially begins September 1, but after yesterday's Annual Meeting, its clear; the work has already started.

Congratulations to the 2026-2027 Board! 🥂

We have big plans for 2027, and we are kicking things off by giving 2 InsureTech Connect Vegas tickets to 2 IIAH - Independent Insurance Agents of Houston Agency Members.

IIAH is proud to be sponsoring InsureTech Connect 2026, and we already have five board members heading to Las Vegas. The goal is bigger than attending an event. We want to bring Houston agents back new technology, new vendor relationships, new ideas, and stronger industry connections that help all of us compete and serve our communities better.

And ITC is only one piece of what is coming.

2027 priorities include:
• Education: More practical training, resources, and opportunities our members can actually use.
• Pathways: Our Pathways Program is gaining momentum and industry attention as we build a stronger pipeline into insurance careers alongside Risk & Insurance Education Alliance and our industry partners.
• Connections: Creating more opportunities for agents, carriers, vendors, and young professionals to build relationships that move our industry forward.

Giving back to our community's future is what YIPs is all about. 🎒✨

This year, our Young Insurance Professionals Committee used raised 2025-2026 funds to donate school supplies for approximately 24 children through Catholic Charities USA of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Catholic Charities will help nearly 700 children head back to school this year, including youth in foster care, children from low-income families, and refugee families.

We're proud to support an organization making such a meaningful impact and help local students start the school year prepared for success.
