🩺🚨 When disaster strikes, Red Cross nurses are there, often after firefighters leave, helping families recover from devastating home fires.

They replace critical medications, assist with medical needs, and offer comfort in some of the hardest moments. As nurse leader Eddie Gradney shares, sometimes survivors just need someone to talk to and that someone is often a nurse.

🌀Hurricane Preparedness Starts Now 🌀
Hurricane season is here, and preparation can save lives. Taking a few steps today can help keep you, your family, and your home safe when severe weather threatens.

✅ Make a plan: Know your evacuation routes and how you’ll stay in touch with loved ones.
✅ Build an emergency kit: Include water, non‑perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and important documents.
✅ Stay informed: Monitor local weather alerts and follow guidance from local officials.
✅ Protect your home: Secure outdoor items and review your insurance coverage.

Being prepared means peace of mind. Don’t wait until a storm is near—prepare now.

Earlier this week the South Texas Chapter hosted an Open House for our Rio Grande Valley community. It was amazing to see so many people come out and learn more about what we do.

Volunteers shared their experiences in disaster response, sheltering, health services, and more, giving guests a real look at how we support families in need.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our incredible volunteers for their continued dedication. ❤️
